Favour Ofili Reportedly Switches Allegiance To Turkey

Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has reportedly switched allegiance to Turkey, citing frustration with the Nigerian Athletics Federation.

Ofili expressed frustration after being left off the official list for the 100m event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite qualifying.

She competed in the 200m event but finished sixth, losing her chance at an Olympic gold medal.

Ofili has reportedly switched allegiance to Turkey as of May 31, 2025, although the reasons for her switch differ from those of Jamaican athletes Rajindra Campbell and Roje Stona.

Unlike Campbell and Stona, who received financial incentives for their switch, Ofili’s reasons for switching allegiance to Turkey are not monetary.
