Heartland Queens Gets Justice As NFF Referee Committee Steps Down Match Official For Misconduct

Heartland Queens gets justice as NFF Referee committee steps down Ayem Joy the center referee who officiated the game against Nasarawa Amazons on match day 2 of the Nigerian women football league on Wednesday November 22nd at the Lafia city stadium for biased officiating and wrong calls.

 

Heartland Queens lost to Nasarawa Amazons by a lone goal but in the course of the game dissallowed the late equalizer to still keep the game at 1-0 against Heartland Queens.

 

According to an official statement released by the NFF Refereeing committee development unit, The Unit also stepped down some other Referee Assessors and Referees for misconduct.

 

This information was contained in a memo jointly signed by Mohammed Ameenu and Ejimofor Chuwudi, National Publicity Secretary, Nigeria Football Referees Association.

 

They warned all referees and assistant referees in all cadres of the league to avoid placing personal interests above the laws of the game.

 

The memo reads: “After glaring arbitrary decisions that have no recourse to any part of the Laws of the Game given the incidences that occurred, the under-listed Referees/Assistant Referees are

 

herewith stepped down outrightly from all Refereeing activities.

 

They include:

 

i. Okolosi Isaiah Owohede (ED) – Referee, Smart City FC vs Edel FC (NNL Matchday 1).

 

 

ii. Johnson Ikechukwu R. (RV) – AR

1, Giant Brillars vs Ikorodu United (NNL Matchday 1).

 

 

iii. Ogben Kindek (CR).

– Referee, Bayelsa Queens vs Ekiti Queens (Matchday 2)

 

 

iv. Ayem Joy (BN).

-Referee, Nasarawa Amazons vs Heartland Queens (NWFL

 

Matchday 2).

 

“Actions displayed by these Referees/Assistant Referees and decisions therefrom are clear displays of impunity and the NFF Refereeing Development Committee/Department will not tolerate or accommodate such misconducts that brings the game and refereeing generally into disrepute.

 

“All Referees and Assistant Referees in all cadres of the League system are thus, warned to avoid placing personal opinions or interests above the dictates of the Laws of the game.” The memo sites.

 

In an exclusive interview with Heartland Queens media officer Anthony Ahize, he said;

“ I really commend the NFF Referee committee for this very timely step, it goes a long way to show the level of integrity and discipline in the league and with this, our league will grow and more confidence will return to the league.

 

We can understand that the point can’t be returned to us but we pray this kind of thing doesn’t happen to anyone again in our league because it is a painful experience but we have moved on from it, all our focus now will be on our next match against Abia Angels which is an oriental Derby.

God willing we will try and recover lost points subsequently. “ Ahize concluded.
