Former Nigeria U-20 midfielder Quadri Liameed, son of Hajji Gafar, is in stable condition following a frightening head injury sustained during a Spanish Segunda League encounter between his club, CE Sabadell, and Albacete.

The former Flying Eagles midfielder reportedly lost consciousness for approximately 30 seconds after being struck on the head by an opponent’s kick, leaving players and officials concerned during the encounter.

However, encouraging news has emerged, with the talented Nigerian now stable and receiving medical attention.

Providing an update on his son’s condition, Hajji Gafar expressed relief over the positive medical report, while revealing that Quadri is expected to undergo a Buffalo Concussion Bike Test (BCBT) within the next 48 hours.

“My son is now in a stable condition and is expected to undergo a Buffalo Concussion Bike Test (BCBT) within the next 48 hours. The Spanish medical team attending to him gave me some encouraging news yesterday, and I am relieved and grateful.

“I also intend to travel to Spain within the next 10 days to personally see Quadri, spend some time with him and support him through this recovery process,” he said.

Quadri has built a reputation as a determined and intelligent midfielder, renowned for his ability to win second balls, dictate play and bring steel to the middle of the park.

His football journey began at a tender age, and since he was 11, he has demonstrated remarkable commitment and resilience, qualities that have earned him recognition as a dependable midfield marshal.

His development under respected Nigerian coaches, including Manu Garba, Nduka Ugbade and Ladan Bosso, played a significant role in shaping his football character and competitive mentality.

He subsequently represented Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, winning a silver medal at the 2019 African Games in Rabat, Morocco, under the leadership of Coach Paul Aigbogun.

Over the past five years, Quadri has continued his professional football journey in Spain, demonstrating the determination and fighting spirit that have characterised his career.

Described as a strong young man and a true Lion, Quadri’s resilience on the pitch has inspired confidence that he will overcome this challenging period.

Meanwhile, the entire 36 Lion Football Club family, the Lagos State football community and the Nigerian football fraternity have rallied behind the midfielder, offering prayers and messages of encouragement as he continues his recovery.

Stay strong, Quadri. The Lions are firmly behind you!
