The Nigeria National League (NNL) has confirmed Saturday, October 31, 2026, as the official kick-off date for the 2026/27 season.
The commencement date was ratified during the league’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Owerri on Friday, as clubs and league officials finalised plans for the new campaign.
For the upcoming season, participating clubs have been divided into four conferences: Southern Conference A, Southern Conference B, Northern Conference A and Northern Conference B.
The new structure will see the top-placed team from each conference earn promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the end of the campaign.
The four promoted clubs will subsequently compete in a mini-tournament to determine the overall champions of the 2026/27 NNL season.
The new campaign promises another fiercely contested promotion race, with clubs across the country aiming to secure a place in Nigeria’s top-flight league.
At the end of the previous NNL season, Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos, Doma United and Ranchers Bees secured promotion to the NPFL.
With the October 31 kick-off date now confirmed, clubs will turn their attention to preparations as they seek to challenge for promotion and ultimately the NNL championship.
