Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has added another remarkable achievement to an outstanding campaign after winning the prestigious Turkish Süper Lig Goal of the Season Award.
The Trabzonspor forward earned the coveted individual honour for his breathtaking scissor-kick goal in his side’s thrilling 4-2 victory over Fatih Karagümrük in September. The stunning strike, which immediately captured the imagination of football fans across Turkey, had earlier been voted the league’s Goal of the Month for September before going on to secure the season’s highest individual goal-scoring recognition.
Known for his imposing physical presence and aerial dominance, Onuachu surprised many with the athleticism and technical brilliance displayed in the award-winning effort. The Nigerian international reacted instinctively inside the penalty area, launching himself into the air and connecting perfectly with the ball to produce an acrobatic finish that left spectators and pundits in awe.
The spectacular goal ultimately edged out strong competition from Fenerbahçe star Marco Asensio and Beşiktaş midfielder Orkun Kökçü to claim the prestigious accolade.
The award serves as further recognition of what has been a phenomenal debut campaign for Onuachu since his permanent move to Trabzonspor from Southampton last summer.
The prolific striker emerged as one of the most feared forwards in Turkish football, finishing the 2025/26 Süper Lig season as joint-top scorer with 22 goals. He shared the Golden Boot award with İstanbul Başakşehir striker Eldor Shomurodov after both players enjoyed exceptional scoring campaigns.
By reaching the summit of the league’s scoring chart, Onuachu became only the sixth player in Trabzonspor’s illustrious history to finish a season as the Turkish Süper Lig’s leading marksman, further cementing his status among the club’s modern-day greats.
Across all competitions, the towering forward delivered an impressive return of 26 goals and two assists in 43 appearances for the Claret and Blue. His consistency, leadership, and clinical finishing proved crucial to Trabzonspor’s success throughout the campaign.
Onuachu’s influence extended beyond league competition as he played a decisive role in Trabzonspor’s successful Turkish Cup campaign.
The Black Sea Storm lifted the Turkish Cup for a record-extending 10th time after defeating Konyaspor 2-1 in a dramatic final. Once again, Onuachu rose to the occasion, scoring both goals to inspire his side to victory and cap off a memorable season in spectacular fashion.
His match-winning performance in the final further highlighted his importance to the team and reinforced his reputation as one of the most dominant strikers currently playing in Europe.
Trabzonspor’s triumphant season was also celebrated by fellow Nigerians Chibuike Nwaiwu and Anthony Nwakaeme, who were members of the title-winning squad and contributed to the club’s successful campaign.
With a Golden Boot, a Turkish Cup winners’ medal, and the Süper Lig Goal of the Season Award now added to his growing collection of honours, Paul Onuachu has enjoyed one of the finest seasons of his career, further enhancing Nigeria’s reputation for producing world-class football talent on the global stage.
