‎Nigeria’s D’Tigress will face a familiar foe, Cameroon, in the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIBA Women’s Afrobasket 2025.

The match is scheduled to take place on Thursday at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, with tip-off set for 10 pm.

‎Cameroon secured their spot in the last eight with a convincing 85-64 win over Angola in their qualification game.

‎The team’s dynamic backcourt duo, Jessica Thomas and Joelly Emmanuelle Claude Belleka, have been instrumental in their success, averaging 16 and 15 points per game, respectively.

‎D’Tigress, the defending champions, are aiming to make history by becoming the first team (male or female) to win five consecutive Afrobasket championships.

‎To achieve this feat, they will need to contain Cameroon’s talented backcourt duo and overcome the challenges that lie ahead.

‎The quarterfinal match against Cameroon holds special significance for Nigeria, as the Central African nation was the last team to defeat them at the Afrobasket.

‎In the 2015 semifinal, Cameroon edged Nigeria 71-70 in Yaoundé. Since then, Nigeria has gone on an unbeaten run, claiming four straight Afrobasket titles and asserting their dominance on the continent.
