Serie A :Akinsanmiro Provides Assist On Monza Debut Despite Udinese Defeat
By Sedara Philip
Super Eagles midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro made an impressive competitive debut for Monza, providing an assist despite his side’s disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Udinese.
Akinsanmiro entered the game in the 54th minute, replacing Mathis Mout, and wasted little time making his presence felt.
The Nigerian midfielder played a key role in Monza’s second goal, providing the assist for Gustavo Varela, who finished to bring the hosts back into the contest.
However, Monza were unable to complete the comeback as Udinese held on to secure an away victory, with fellow Nigerian international Maduka Okoye completing the full 90 minutes in goal for the visitors.
Akinsanmiro recently joined Monza on loan from Inter Milan after spending last season on loan at another Italian club, Pisa.
The 21-year-old will now hope to earn his first start for Monza when they face Torino in the Italian Cup on Tuesday.
Although the result was disappointing for Monza, Akinsanmiro’s individual contribution provides an encouraging start to his latest loan spell in Italian football.
Meanwhile, Okoye’s full-match appearance gives the Super Eagles goalkeeper another valuable outing as he continues his campaign with Udinese.
