Super Falcons Defender Demehin Joins Benfica On Three-Year Deal
By Sportsgister
Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin has completed her transfer to Portuguese champions Benfica, signing a three-year contract that will keep her at the club until June 2029.
The 24-year-old centre-back arrives as a free agent following the conclusion of her two-year spell with Turkish side Galatasaray, where she established herself as a reliable member of the club’s defence.
Demehin joined Galatasaray from French club Stade de Reims in September 2024 and went on to make 41 appearances across all competitions during her time in Istanbul.
She also played an important role in Galatasaray’s historic first-ever campaign in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, gaining valuable experience at the highest level of European club football.
One of her memorable moments came in the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe, where the Nigerian defender scored during Galatasaray’s thrilling 3-2 victory over their city rivals.
Demehin now begins a fresh chapter in Portugal with Benfica, one of the leading clubs in European women’s football.
Her arrival will also see her reunite with fellow Super Falcons international Flourish Sabastine, who is already part of the Benfica squad.
Following her departure from Galatasaray, Demehin expressed appreciation to the club’s management, teammates and supporters for their support throughout her time in Turkey.
The move represents another important step in the Nigerian defender’s growing European career and gives her an opportunity to compete for domestic and continental honours with Benfica.
Demehin will now turn her attention to pre-season preparations as she looks to settle quickly into her new surroundings and make her mark with the Portuguese champions.
