Emiloju FC will be among the clubs competing at the highly anticipated Discovery Cup 2026 tournament scheduled to take place at the Inspire Sports Ground, Oshodi, Lagos, from May 11 to May 19, 2026.
The prestigious youth football competition is expected to feature 20 teams drawn from different football academies and clubs across Nigeria, creating a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities before scouts, football stakeholders and fans.
Emiloju FC heads into this year’s edition with renewed confidence after finishing in third position during the maiden edition of the Discovery Cup last year, a performance that further established the club as one of the promising grassroots football teams in the competition.
The Lagos-based side has been placed in Group B alongside Shuffle Select FA, Schimchi FA, Burna Boy FA and Dynamic Plus Sports Football Club in what promises to be a highly competitive group stage battle.
The tournament organizers confirmed that the overall winners will cart home the championship trophy, while exceptional players will also earn individual recognition and opportunities to be selected among the best talents discovered during the competition.
According to the fixtures released for the tournament, Emiloju FC will begin their campaign against Shuffle Select FA on Monday, May 11, before taking on Schimchi FA, Dynamic Plus SFC and Burna Boy FA in subsequent group matches.
Speaking ahead of the competition, Chairman of Emiloju FC, Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao, expressed confidence in the team’s level of preparation and readiness for the tournament.
He stated that the club has been working tirelessly in training to ensure the players are physically and mentally prepared for the challenges ahead.
“Our preparation has been very encouraging and the players are ready to give their best at the Discovery Cup. We understand the importance of this competition because it provides young talents with exposure and opportunities to develop their football careers,” he said.
Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao further noted that Emiloju FC’s target is to improve on last year’s achievement and challenge strongly for the title.
“We are going there with confidence and determination. We respect every team in the tournament, but we also believe in the quality of our players and technical crew. Our aim is to make Emiloju FC proud and also help our players attract opportunities through their performances,” he added.
The Discovery Cup has continued to gain recognition as one of the emerging youth football competitions aimed at discovering and promoting grassroots talents in Nigeria.
With several promising teams expected to compete for honours, football lovers are anticipating an exciting tournament filled with quality performances, emerging stars and intense competition at the Inspire Sports Ground in Oshodi, Lagos.
