The All Sports Supporters’ Club, under the distinguished leadership of its National President, Barrister Johnson Dagana, has congratulated Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, following their historic 2-1 victory over Japan to emerge champions of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Rabat, Morocco.
The club described the remarkable achievement as a defining moment in Nigerian and African football history, noting that the Flamingos have not only brought immense pride to Nigeria but have also placed the African continent on the global football map.
With their victory over Japan, Nigeria became the first African country to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the first nation on the continent to claim the male and female versions of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The All Sports Supporters’ Club particularly commended the players for their resilience, determination, discipline and outstanding team spirit throughout the competition.

The club applauded Awawu Bashiru for her spectacular opening goal in the final and Oluebube Umejiaku for her decisive second-half strike, while also recognising the collective contributions of Queen Joseph, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, Kanyinsola Yusuf and other members of the squad.
Special commendation was also extended to the Head Coach, Hakeem Busari, and his technical crew for their tactical discipline, commitment and ability to inspire the young players to overcome challenges and achieve this historic milestone.
The club noted that the Flamingos’ journey to the championship, particularly their impressive victories over Brazil and Japan, demonstrated the enormous potential of Nigerian women’s football and the importance of sustained investment in grassroots and youth sports development.
The National President, Barrister Johnson Dagana, on behalf of the entire membership of the All Sports Supporters’ Club, described the triumph as a victory for every Nigerian, irrespective of background or location.
He further called on the Federal Government, corporate organisations, football administrators and other stakeholders to reward the players and technical crew appropriately while ensuring that the achievement becomes a foundation for greater investment in women’s football.
The club also urged the Nigeria Football Federation to sustain the momentum by providing the necessary support and development opportunities for young female footballers across the country.
The statement concluded by celebrating the Flamingos as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria and Africa, stressing that their achievement has inspired a new generation of girls to believe in their dreams and pursue excellence through sports.
Congratulations, Fabulous Flamingos! You have conquered the world, made Nigeria proud and written your names in the golden pages of African football history.
