Yobe Desert Stars came from behind this morning to defeat Doma United 2-1 in a thrilling Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
Doma United took an early lead through John Zauka’s 17th-minute goal, but Yobe Desert Stars responded well, with Yakubu Abdullahi equalizing in the second half.
With time running out, Umar Idris scored the winner for Yobe Desert Stars in the 85th minute, sealing all three points and moving them close to securing promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The victory puts Yobe Desert Stars in a strong position in Group A.
Yobe Desert Stars now have one match left to play against Wikki Tourists, and a positive result could confirm their promotion to the NPFL for the first time since 2019.
The team will look to build on their momentum and secure a spot in the top flight.
