The end appears to be near to some persons who have no medium nor blog parading themselves as journalists infiltrating the industry with bad contents and acrimony.

This is a submission of the President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Comrade Benjamin Isaiah on Friday while featuring in an online weekly interview session tagged Super Interview held on Sports World Platform.

The graduate of Ahmadu Bello University while reacting to questions sent in by stakeholders co hosted by Sunday Agunbiade popularly known as Mr VAR and Wale Oye his said the bad eggs in SWAN have done no good to the association, hence the need to weed them.out.

In his words:

“Part of the plans is to ensure that we weed out those that are not journalists, those that are not practicing journalism. They are the ones causing distractions.”

“I can tell you for free that even some of the NEC members, after our investigation, some of them do not have any medium, organizations or own any blog.”

“How can you claim to be a sports journalist without a medium or even own a blog or a website where you can churn out stories?”

“When these distractions are over, certainly we will sanitize the association by removing all those that have no business in the Association, whether you are an exco or not.”

“Some persons have not even reported sports in the past 20 years, and they will not allow the younger ones to thrive. We will do the needful in weeding out the bad elements.”

“Identifying the real members is a very clear and easy task. We will know, because we have real members in state chapters and when there are imposters, they will certainly call our attention to it and we will take them off completely from the association.”

Comrade Benjamin assured that things will take shape once the crisis are over.

“We will ensure that only genuine journalists and reporters are the members of SWAN and during our next council,we will take a big decision.”
