…Warn against abuse of new vehicles
The Benue Football Stakeholders have commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for easing the transportation challenges of Lobi Stars Football Club after he donated four brand new vehicles to the club on Wednesday in Makurdi.
The chairman of the forum, Coach Andrew Iornongo Ikoga, who described Governor Alia as a man who is committed to the development of the state in all spheres of life said the governor has graciously granted all requests presented to him by Lobi Stars management to enhance the performance of the team.
The chairman, therefore, enjoined the management of Lobi Stars to put the vehicles to good use and imbibe the culture of maintenance just as he called on the Governor to put machineries in motion to forestall past incidences where vehicles belonging to the club were either sold outrightly, vandalized or converted to personal use by the present vice-chairman, Dominic Iorfa.
The Chairman reiterated that even as the Stakeholders appreciate the gesture of Gov Alia, they are also calling on His Excellency to expedite action on recovering the club’s vehicles that have been sold without following due process.
It will be recalled that one of Lobi Stars’ vehicles sold by Iorfa was recovered by the Assets Recovery Committee without an engine, but the one in Adikpo is yet to be recovered by the government.
