COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE CONGRESS OF SPORTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (SWAN) ONDO STATE CHAPTER HELD ON FRIDAY 5TH JANUARY, 2024

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), Ondo State Chapter held its congress on Friday, 5th January 2024, and resolved as follows:

1. Members commiserated with the government of Ondo State on the demise of former Governor, late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, while also congratulating Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his emergence as Governor of Ondo State. It urged his administration to place high premium on sports development at the grassroots.

2. Congress tasked the present administration to ensure safety and security of athletes, players and officials while traveling to represent the state in major competitions both home and away.

3. The Association urged the state government to ensure that award ceremonies are organized for athletes that participated in the last three National Sports Festivals.

4. Members of the Association urged the government to ensure rehabilitation and completion of sporting facilities at Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure and ensure maintenance of existing ones to boost the morale of players and athletes alike.

5. Members were commended for their unifying efforts in the preceding year and enjoined to embrace love for the progress of the Association in the new year.

6. SWAN Members in the state were charged to be more active in activities of the Association and do the needful to register for 2024 through the exco and in good time.

7. Congress charged executives of SWAN in Ondo State to see to the welfare of members for robust synergy and inclusiveness.
