Ekiti United FC on Tuesday afternoon defeated newly promoted Nigeria National League side, Tradesafe Sports FC 2-1 in a friendly match that took place at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti.

Ekiti United began the evening on a bright note but it was the visitors who had the first shot on goal though they couldn’t find the target.

The early exchanges had no real chance at goal as both teams where sizing each other.

The game took a dramatic turn after the hour mark when Ekiti United returnee, Kehinde Olajuyin’s header almost put Ekiti United in front but his effort was well cleared by a Tradesafe defender.

Moment later, Lagos based Tradesafe FC thought they had taken the lead but Temitope Bankole in goal for Ekiti United ensured the score stood goalless at the break.

On resumption, substitute, Sodiq Ibrahim’s well timed effort from close range put Ekiti United in front with the first goal of the day in the 60th minute.

However, 10 minutes later Tradesafe restored parity when a shot from outside the area was diverted by Ekiti United defender, Sodiq Adiat who put the ball inside his own net.

Both sides edged forward for the winner but it was Ekiti United who made it count when Olaoluwa Elegbeleye’s 84th minute thunderous long range effort from 25 yard beat the visitors goalkeeper to give Ekiti United a 2-1 win.

The Kehinde Anjorin led side are in good stead in their preparations for the 2023/24 NNL which kicks off on November 18 as the team is currently doing the needful to ensure a great season.

Meanwhile, Ekiti United Feeders team tutured by coach Mayowa Afolabi will tomorrow(Wednesday) host Dynamos FC from Iyin Ekiti in a friendly match to be decided at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium by 4pm.
