Double Friendlies: A Win, A Draw For Ekiti United As Preparations For NNL Kickoff Intensify

One of the most experienced NNL sides that will be going into the 2023/24 season later this weekend, Ekiti United FC were involved in two friendly matches on Sunday.

While one of the matches was played in Ogbomoso, home ground of the host team, Crown FC, the other match was played in Ado, home ground of Ekiti United FC.

The match away to Crown of Ogbomoso ended in a 1-1 draw while the one played in Ado ended 2 nil against Immigration FC.

The team was split into two by the technical crew as the main team comprising the first 11 hopefuls travelled to face another NNL side while the other squad which was a blend of reserved players and Feeders Team players stayed at home.

While the Head Coach, Kehinde Anjorin led the team to Ogbomoso, the Team Manager, Adu Adedeji was home alongside Assistant Coach, Adeola Awe and Coach Mayowa Afolabi of Ekiti Feeders Team.

The team will resume training Monday evening preparatory to the October 29 opening match of the Nigeria National Football League against Abia Comets in Ado Ekiti.

According to the Kehinde Anjorin led technical crew of Ekiti United FC, results of the Weekend friendly were indications of the readiness of the squad to do battle and break the jinx this season.

12 teams including Ekiti United fall in group A of the NNL 2023/24 Southern Conference while the top 2 in the group expected to join others from 3 other groups namely Southern Conference Group B,Northern Conference Group A and B who will all qualify for the Super 8 at the end of the NNL season.

Other teams in same group with Ekiti United FC in Southern Conference Group A are Smart City, Dakkada FC, Stormers FC, Vandrezzer FC, Beyond Limits FC, Madiba FC as well as new comers named 12 FC and 1472 FC with about of the teams coming from Lagos.
