NPFL: “Our draw With Heartland was Due To Due Lack Of concentration”- Edith Agoye

Sunshine Stars coach, Edith Agoye has said his side 1-1 draw against Heartland of Owerri was as a lack of concentration which he said do happen in football

He added that it was unfortunate that his side allowed the game they had in their hands slip off and gave the Naze Millionaire the chance to come back into the match.

Agoye stated this after Sunshine Stars shared a spoils of 1-1 in the week three of the Nigeria Premier League Football NPFL played at the Ondo State Sports complex, Akure.He added that the goal conceded should not be pinned on the goal keeper, saying it should be on the entire team.

According to him, “if the goal was a mistake from the goalkeeper, where was the coverage, yes he made a mistake and there should have been a coverage for him, we can’t blame him, we win together and lose together” Agoye said.

The game was a two points loss, we will continue to work in the training ground and hopefully the results will start showing.

“When you have the opportunity, it’s better to capitalise on it, we were very good in the first half with many goal scoring chances created ,we would have scored more goals than the one we scored in the first half.

“In the second half, we got punished for it ,we learn from what happened today and take positive from it and move on.

Heartland FC coach, Christian Obi commended the resilient of his players for coming from behind to get a share of the points.

He added that he will work on his team not be conceding first, saying they came from behind to play draw in two of their matches, we may not have such luck next time.

“I commend the officials for fair officiating, picking a point against Sunshine Stars at home is not a joke”, he stated. “Our games at the pre -season were the reference point, we were tagged the most youngest, entertaining and tactical side, but that to me doesn’t translate to winning without scoring goals, in as much that we are going to keep our game to our chest, we are saying it loud and clear that we still need to fortify the team with experienced and more skillful players.”

“We can’t pretend as if we do not know that we are in a very tough group in the Nigeria Women Football League slated to kick off next month, but when it finally starts, the results will speak for each team.”

He sought more support from the club’s supporters, saying they should be expecting the best from his team this season.
