IGALA NATIONS CUP: 8th Edition Set To Get Underway On 17th August 2024

The 8th Edition of Igala Nations Cup, One of the Most prestigious and well Organized Football tournament in North Central Nigeria is set to take Centre stage 12th August 2024 according to the organizers.

A statement signed and issued by the Director Technical of the annual competition and Confederation of African Football license Manager Coach Abubakar Kamar Olachene Said arrangements are already in top gear to ensure a better and improved 8th edition.

Ahead of this year’s edition, a partnership has been entered into and signed with Igala -Bassa Development Initiative, IBDI to forge a strong partnership and bond to ensure an improve and better tournament. The partnership is also aim at discovering and harnessing the abundant talents that the Igala Nation is blessed with.

To ensure that all registered teams, players, officials and supporters are effectively and efficiently abreast with the rules and regulations guiding the tournament, the Director Technical of the Competition Coach Abubakar Kamar Olachene invited all registered teams to a round table parley at the popular Fosla Hotel Idah where issues of players and fans conduct were extensively and thoroughly discussed.

The Igala Nations Cup has since inception 8 years ago remained one of the best Football tournament in the Confluence State and North-Central Nigeria and has helped in discovering some young gifted talents many of whom are already established players and plying their trade with different clubs both in and outside Nigeria

As we look forward to this year’s Edition of the Igala Nations Cup, it is pertinent to State that Teams, Players and their various passionate supporters and fans should expect nothing but the best in terms of organization and execution of the tournament as it has always been with previous editions.

The prize money for the winner has also been improved tremendously as whoever wins this edition goes home with a whooping One Million Naira (1,000,000) alongside other mouth watering prizes and Cash rewards.

Like Coach Faruk Emeh(Shaggy), one of the Coaches of Igala United football club posited recently, ” If the Igala Kingdom was to be a Nation on its own, we would produce one of the best football team that can face any nation of the world because we are never short of talent as they abound in almost every nook and crany of the ancient kingdom.

The Success Story of the Annual Football Fiesta cannot be Complete without the mention of some notable illustrious Sons of Igala Nation who have committed resources and time to the development and progress of the youths of the land through football development.

Worthy of mention amongst these distinguish personalities who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the youths in the land is Dr Victor Alewo Adoji who through his Foundation, DVAA Foundation has ensured that youths are empowered not just through football but every facet of Life. It is also worthy to mention that Dr Victor Alewo Adoji is the Financier of Igala United football club, a Club that comprises of players scouted from the Igala Nations Cup playing in the Nationwide League One Division Two.

Chief Pharmacist Peter Iduh of Iduh Foundation has also contributed so much in uplifting the youths of Igala land through his Foundation. His presence at every Igala Nation’s Cup final has been of immense encouragement to the generality of the youths.

Alhaji Friday Idachaba didn’t just render support to the Igala Nations Cup but also stepped out to float another annual soccer competition tagged: ” Alhaji Friday Championship” , a competition that always serve as curtain raiser for the main soccer Fiesta. This was made possible through his philanthropic platform , the Alhaji Friday Foundation. Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka is also another illustrious figure from Igala kingdom who have done a lot for the youths through the Muri Foundation.

16 teams representing the Nine(9) local government areas have registered to trade tackles and devour one another so as to decide who wins this year’s edition of the competition.

In the Opening ceremony, Idah Fc will Open their 2024 Igala Nations Cup account against Who’s Who Football Club at the Buffalo Pitch of the Federal Polytechnic Idah at 2pm on Saturday 17th August 2024 while Uwowo United and High Hills Fc will trade tackles in the second game same and Venue at 4pm.
