Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao Congratulates Moses Simon On Historic 100th Super Eagles Cap

Chairman of Emiloju FC and Deputy National President of the All Sports Supporters’ Club, Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao, has congratulated Super Eagles forward Moses Simon on reaching the remarkable milestone of 100 senior international appearances for Nigeria.
Simon achieved the landmark on Friday, September 25, 2026, when he came off the bench during Nigeria’s 2–1 comeback victory over Madagascar in the opening match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
The appearance moved Simon into an exclusive group of Nigerian footballers who have reached the century mark for the Super Eagles. He became the fifth player to achieve the feat, following Ahmed Musa, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Alex Iwobi.
Simon made his senior international debut for Nigeria in March 2015 against Uganda at the age of 19. More than 11 years later, he has established himself as one of the experienced members of the national team.
Reacting to the milestone, Alao described Simon’s achievement as a significant moment in Nigerian football and praised the player for his dedication, consistency and commitment to the national team.
“I warmly congratulate Moses Simon on reaching 100 appearances for the Super Eagles. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to his dedication, discipline, consistency and loyalty to Nigeria. To represent your country at the highest level 100 times is something that deserves to be celebrated.”
Alao further praised Simon for remaining committed to the national team through different generations of players and coaches, describing his longevity in the green and white as a reflection of his enduring contribution to Nigerian football.
“Moses has served Nigeria with commitment over the years, and this milestone is not just about the number of appearances. It represents many years of sacrifice, hard work and service to the country. He has given Nigerian football many memorable moments, and I am delighted to celebrate this achievement with him.”
The All Sports Supporters’ Club chieftain also congratulated Simon for achieving the landmark during an important AFCON qualifying victory, noting that the occasion became even more memorable as Nigeria recovered from an early setback to defeat Madagascar 2–1.
Madagascar took the lead in the 16th minute before debutant George Ilenikhena equalised on the stroke of halftime. Another debutant, Moses Usor, then completed Nigeria’s comeback with a superb individual effort in the second half.
Alao said Simon’s milestone should serve as an inspiration to younger Nigerian footballers who aspire to represent the country at the highest level.
“I encourage our young players to learn from Moses Simon’s journey. Reaching 100 caps requires talent, but it also requires discipline, resilience, professionalism and the willingness to keep serving whenever the opportunity comes.”
He also expressed confidence that Simon still has more to contribute to the Super Eagles and wished the player continued success in the national colours.
Simon’s 100th appearance came as Nigeria began its 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign with victory, with the Super Eagles now turning their attention to their next qualifying assignment against Guinea-Bissau in Bissau on September 29.
For Alao and the All Sports Supporters’ Club, the celebration of Simon’s century is also an opportunity to reaffirm their continued support for the Super Eagles as the team pursues qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
