Nigerian youngster Zadok Yohanna made his competitive debut for Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday night as the Seagulls were held to a goalless draw by Tromsø in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League playoff tie at the Romssa Arena.

The 19-year-old midfielder was introduced in the 87th minute, replacing Ferdi Kadioglu, as Brighton searched for a late breakthrough in a keenly contested encounter.

Brighton dominated proceedings and created the majority of the opportunities but were unable to find a way past a resolute Tromsø defence.

The Seagulls registered 25 shots, including six attempts on target, but the Norwegian side held firm to secure a valuable clean sheet ahead of the return leg.

Despite the frustrating result, the appearance represented an important milestone for Yohanna, who has now made his competitive bow for the Premier League club.

The teenager will have another opportunity to make an impact when Brighton welcome Tromsø to the Amex Stadium next Thursday for the decisive second leg.

The winner over the two legs will secure qualification for the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa Conference League.

Yohanna joined Brighton this summer from Swedish club AIK and will now be hoping to build on his European debut as he continues his development with the Seagulls.
