The Nationwide League One (NLO) has announced significant adjustments to its 2026 season operations following resolutions reached at its Extraordinary Congress held on February 28, 2026, via Zoom.
The Congress convened to deliberate on pressing issues affecting the upcoming season.
After carefully reviewing feedback and concerns raised by a majority of club owners, members unanimously approved key changes aimed at promoting inclusivity, financial sustainability, and administrative efficiency.
Extension of Registration Deadline
In a move designed to give clubs sufficient time to meet documentation and financial requirements, the Congress approved a two-week extension of the registration deadline.
The Board emphasized that this extension is final and urged all clubs to take full advantage of the additional time to complete necessary processes and avoid last-minute challenges or possible exclusion from the league.
Responding directly to widespread concerns regarding logistics, travel costs, and operational management, the NLO has resolved to revert to the Stadium League Format for the 2026 season.
The earlier proposed format has now been postponed to the 2027 season. Under the reinstated structure, matches will be played at designated neutral centers (stadiums), as previously practiced.
This decision is expected to significantly reduce the financial strain associated with extensive travel and independent facility management, thereby creating a more balanced and competitive playing environment.
These resolutions underscore the Board’s commitment to active stakeholder engagement and responsive leadership. Acknowledging prevailing economic realities, the NLO leadership believes the adopted measures will foster a more sustainable and competitive league season.
Detailed schedules for the designated centers and updated fixtures will be communicated through official NLO channels in the coming days.
The league remains focused on delivering an organized, competitive, and successful 2026 campaign for all participating clubs.
