Chicago Stars FC have completed the acquisition of Nigerian international defender Michelle Alozie from the Houston Dash in exchange for $40,000 in allocation money, strengthening their squad ahead of the coming seasons.
Following the trade, the Stars announced that Alozie has signed a three-year contract that will keep her in Chicago through the end of the 2028 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season, underlining the club’s long-term commitment to building a competitive roster.
Expressing her excitement about the move, Alozie said she is eager to embrace a fresh challenge with her new club.
“CHI TOWN! I’m excited to be starting a new chapter with the Stars,” she said. “I’m looking forward to meeting the team, connecting with them on and off the field, and seeing you fans, both in the city and in the stands. See you very soon, Chicago!”
Chicago Stars General Manager Richard Feuz praised the defender’s versatility and experience, highlighting her importance to the club’s future plans.
“Michelle’s proven ability at both ends of the pitch, along with her experience and leadership skills, will be valuable assets for our team over the next few years,” Feuz said. “We are excited to welcome her to Chicago as we continue to build toward 2026 and beyond.”
Alozie began her professional career with the Houston Dash in 2021, initially joining the club as a national team replacement player before earning a full roster spot. In her rookie season, the California native made four appearances, logging 114 minutes of action.
She went on to enjoy her first full season in 2022, scoring two goals in 10 regular-season appearances and helping the Dash reach their first-ever NWSL playoff appearance.
After signing a two-year contract extension with Houston, Alozie enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2023, emerging as one of the Dash’s joint top scorers with four goals.
Across her time with the club, she recorded seven goals and two assists, starting 33 matches and making 75 regular-season appearances in the NWSL.
On the international stage, Alozie represents Nigeria.
She earned her first Super Falcons call-up, cap, and debut goal in June 2021.
Since then, she has made 26 appearances for the Nigerian Women’s National Team, scoring twice and featuring at both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.
Alozie is set to officially join the Chicago Stars in 2026, when the club moves into its new home at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston, marking a new era for both player and club.
