NYG2025: Team Osun Signed out of Asaba on a High Note with Multiple Medals.

It was indeed a wonderful performance for Team Osun at the just concluded National Youth Games, Asaba 2025 as they coast home 28 Medals.

 

The Osun contingents led by the General Manager of Osun State Sports Council, Mr Ademola Daini participated in 24 sporting events in Asaba.

 

What an eventful outing for Team Osun as the wait for the first gold medal was quashed when Umar Ayoola and and Quyum Olawuyi claimed the first gold medal for the state in Table tennis boys singles after beating Team Ogun in the final.

 

The first Gold Medal by Umar and Quyum opened the floodgates of Gold Medals for Team Osun as Adekunle Uthman won Gold in para-athletics Shotput while Semilore Adeoye added her gold medal in Gymnastics.

 

Team Gold Medal was won in Basketball as the coach Taiwo Ajibola Eleniyan led girls defeated host, Delta State 8-6 in the final.

 

Raji Naila wrapped up the Gold Medal haul for team Osun in Taekwondo -58kg category to make is a total of 5 Gold Medals for the state.

 

Silver Medals were won by Umar Ayoola in table tennis boys singles, Beatrice Ward claimed 2 silver medals in swimming while Zainab Oladimeji completed the silver haul in Para-Powerlifting to take Osun silver medals to 4 in total.

 

A total of 19 Bronze Medals were won by the state in sports such as para-athletics Discus, Gymnastics, Taekwondo , Swimming, Weightlifting, Ayo Olopon, Boxing, Athletics and Shooting.

 

In summary, Team Osun won 5 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and 19 Bronze Medals, totaling 28 Medals.
