Nigerian star Asisat Oshoala is close to joining Al Hilal from Bay FC in the Saudi Women’s Premier League.
The 30-year-old forward has passed her medical tests, and the transfer fee has been agreed upon. The deal is expected to be finalized before the Saudi transfer window closes.
Oshoala joined Bay FC in 2024 and made 38 appearances, scoring eight goals. However, she has featured less often this season, and her absence from the squad has sparked speculation about her future.
Before her NWSL stint, Oshoala enjoyed a legendary spell at Barcelona, scoring 107 goals in 149 appearances and winning five straight league titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies.
Oshoala has won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations four times with Nigeria and has played for various clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Dalian Quanjian.
Al Hilal, who finished sixth in the Saudi Women’s Premier League last season, will rely on Oshoala’s experience and firepower as they aim to push for honors in the fast-growing competition.
Oshoala joins other Nigerian stars in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, including Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega at Al-Ittihad, and Rita Chikwelu at Al-Riyadh.
