Sevilla has confirmed the mutual termination of Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract, allowing the Nigerian striker to join another club.
The 28-year-old forward had fallen down the pecking order under head coach Matías Almeyda and had been linked with a move to Scottish champions Celtic.
Iheanacho joined Sevilla in 2024 but struggled to find consistent playing time, making 11 appearances and scoring three goals.
He was loaned to Championship side Middlesbrough in January, where he featured in 15 matches, scoring once and providing two assists.
Sevilla and Iheanacho have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, which was set to expire in June 2026.
With his contract now terminated, Iheanacho is free to join another club without any transfer fees.
Celtic had been strongly linked with Iheanacho, and the termination of his contract allows them to finalize the deal at their own pace.
Celtic are looking to strengthen their attack after a solid start to the season but a disappointing exit from the Champions League.
