Enyimba International registered their first win of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season with a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Aba on Sunday.
Joseph Abiodun struck the decisive goal as early as the sixth minute, giving the People’s Elephant all three points.
At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers United also picked up a narrow home win, defeating Kwara United 1-0 thanks to Ubong Friday’s 22nd-minute effort.
Bayelsa United continued their strong start with a second successive victory, beating Barau FC 2-0 at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa. Wisdom Magbisa and Ofem Nneoyi both found the net for the Prosperity Boys.
In Kano, Pillars and Wikki Tourists settled for a 1-1 draw at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Ahmed Lamido gave the visitors the lead in the 12th minute, but Mustapha Umar equalised for the hosts just before half-time.
Warri Wolves made it two wins in two matches after beating Enugu Rangers 2-0 at Ozoro University. Ebhonhon Prince and Godwin Oham scored to seal the victory for the Wolves.
The biggest shock of the weekend came in Jos, where Plateau United fell 2-1 at home to visiting Katsina United. Auwal Abubakar opened the scoring before Uche Collins doubled the lead 15 minutes into the second half. Gideon Monday pulled one back for Plateau, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.
In Lafia, Nasarawa United edged Abia Warriors 1-0, with Leonard Ugochukwu providing the winner.
Elsewhere, El-Kanemi Warriors and Ikorodu City played out a goalless draw in Lagos.
