Rivers Angels successfully defended their President Federation Cup women’s title, defeating Nasarawa Amazons 4-2 in a penalty shootout after the match ended 2-2 after extra time.
The thrilling final was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Saturday.
Nasarawa Amazons dominated the first half, with Olusola Shobowale scoring twice to give them a 2-0 lead.
However, Rivers Angels staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, with Taiwo Ajibade and Taiwo Afolabi scoring to level the game 2-2.
The match went straight into penalties after 90 minutes of action-packed football.
Rivers Angels showed their nerves of steel, converting four kicks, while Nasarawa Amazons put in two.
This victory marks the 10th President Federation Cup title for Rivers Angels, cementing their status as one of the most successful women’s teams in Nigeria.
