Dapo Ajibade Hails Ondo SWAN, Dedicates Award To Sports Development

Prince Dapo Ajibade, a sports administrator, strategist and entrepreneur, has expressed appreciation to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ondo State Chapter, for honouring him with a Golden Award for his contributions to sports development.
Ajibade stated this while speaking on the red carpet of the Ondo @50 Sports Icons award ceremony held at the NMA building in Akure.
He described the recognition as a great honour and an encouragement to continue contributing to the growth of sports, particularly football.
He commended the leadership and members of SWAN in the state for identifying and celebrating individuals who had contributed to the development of sports in the state over the years.
According to him, the award was not only a personal recognition but also a reminder of the collective responsibility of sports administrators, athletes, coaches, journalists and other stakeholders to build a stronger sporting industry.
“I sincerely appreciate SWAN Ondo State for this Golden Award and for recognising my modest contributions to sports development. I am deeply honoured and grateful for this recognition.
“It is particularly meaningful because it comes from an association whose members have consistently played an important role in promoting sports and documenting the achievements of our athletes and administrators.
“I see this award as an encouragement to do more. There is still a lot to be done in developing football and other sports, especially at the grassroots, and I remain committed to contributing my quota,” he said.
Ajibade, whose career has taken him through various areas of football administration, grassroots development, consultancy and international football engagements, said the recognition would further strengthen his commitment to creating opportunities for young talents.
He also congratulated other award recipients, describing them as men and women whose contributions had helped shape the sporting history of Ondo State.
Ajibade said he received the award with humility and would continue to support initiatives capable of discovering, nurturing and providing opportunities for young sporting talents.
He expressed optimism that with sustained collaboration among government, sports administrators, private investors, the media and other stakeholders, Ondo State could further strengthen its position as a major contributor to Nigerian sports.
