Victoria FA Shine, Elite Babel Boys Impress As Edo State Premier League Gets Underway

The 2026 Edo State Premier Football League officially got underway on Thursday at the Airforce Base Football Ground, Airport Road, Benin City, with an exciting Matchday One that produced goals, impressive individual performances, and an early statement of intent from title contenders.
Eight clubs began their quest for league glory, with the opening four fixtures delivering 12 goals, entertaining football, and plenty of talking points as teams battled for valuable early-season points.
Victoria FA emerged as the biggest winners of the day after producing a ruthless attacking display to dismantle Millers FC 5-0. Anthony Ogudu starred with a brilliant brace, while Kingsley Omoregie, Emmanuel Aipoh, and Oshodi Miracle also found the back of the net to hand Victoria FA an emphatic opening-day victory.
Elite Babel Boys FC also announced themselves as serious contenders with a convincing 3-0 triumph over Osabu FC. Osahon Osas was the standout performer, netting twice, while Chukwu Ifeanyi added the third goal to seal a comfortable win for the Babel Boys.
Bocas FC enjoyed a successful start to their campaign after defeating Rangers Dynamite FC 2-0. Emeka Kwemezi opened the scoring before Ozor Chukube Martins doubled the advantage to ensure maximum points for Bocas FC.
The opening fixture of the competition ended honours even as Delight FA and De Masses FC settled for a 1-1 draw. PraiseGod gave Delight FA the lead before Ambrose William restored parity for De Masses FC, with both sides sharing the spoils after an evenly contested encounter.

11:00 AM: Aidia Sports FC vs Namo FA
1:00 PM: Konstanz Dike FC vs United Sparrow FC
