One of Nigeria’s most respected football intermediaries, Paul Omamomo Ojo, has been nominated to receive the highly coveted Sports Trailblazer Supreme Honour, by the Nigeria Sports Achievers Awards.
The recognition underscores his immense contribution to talent discovery, player development, and the global projection of Nigerian football.
Ojo, who also serves as Senior Special Assistant on Sports to Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has built an enviable reputation as a tireless scout and agent whose influence stretches across Africa and into Europe. Over the past decade, he has remained at the forefront of identifying, nurturing, and exporting Nigerian football talents to top leagues around the world.
His portfolio speaks volumes. Among the many players he has helped secure opportunities abroad are Oghenekaro Etebo, who featured for Gençlerbirliği S.K.; Bruno Onyemaechi, now plying his trade with Olympiacos F.C.; Jordan Kadiri of F.C.V. Dender E.H.; Olakunle Olusegun at FC Krasnodar; and Kparobo Arierhi, who moved to Lillestrøm SK and many more.
These success stories are only a fraction of the hundreds of young Nigerian players whose careers have been positively shaped through his expertise and network.
Beyond facilitating transfers, Ojo’s legacy is deeply rooted in human capital development. Recognizing that sustainable football growth goes beyond players alone, he has invested significantly in coaching education. Through sponsorships and strategic partnerships, he has facilitated coaching scholarships for numerous Nigerian coaches, many from grassroots systems in Delta State, enabling them to gain international exposure and professional certifications abroad.
These efforts have created a ripple effect. Beneficiaries of his initiatives have returned home with enhanced technical knowledge, modern coaching methodologies, and a renewed commitment to youth development.
Their contributions continue to strengthen football structures at the grassroots level, ensuring that the next generation of talents is better groomed and more globally competitive.
Speaking ahead of the award presentation, the Head of Operations of the Nigeria Sports Achievers Awards, Barrister Taiwo Oduoye, described Ojo’s nomination as well-deserved and symbolic of his far-reaching impact.
“This honour is not just about player transfers or professional success,” Oduoye noted. “It is about a man who has consistently used sports as a tool for empowerment, mentorship, and societal development. Paul Omamomo Ojo has shown relentless dedication to creating opportunities for Nigerian youths, helping them find purpose and direction through football.”
With the Sports Trailblazer Supreme Honour, Paul Omamomo Ojo is set to further cement his place among the leading figures driving the evolution of Nigerian sports. His story is not just one of personal achievement, but of impact, measured in lives changed, careers built, and a nation’s footballing reputation strengthened on the global stage.
