Ranchers Bees have officially secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), marking a remarkable return to the country’s top-flight division after an absence spanning 18 years.

The Kaduna-based side confirmed their promotion on Wednesday, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat to Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium. Heading into the decisive fixture, Ranchers Bees required just a single point to guarantee qualification. However, results elsewhere ultimately worked in their favor, rendering their loss inconsequential.

Their closest rivals, Jigawa Golden Stars, fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat away to Kebbi United, a result that ensured Ranchers Bees retained top spot in Conference D of the Nigeria National League (NNL). The Bees concluded their campaign with 20 points, enough to seal their long-awaited return to elite football.

Jigawa Golden Stars, who had been in contention for promotion, finished third in the standings with 18 points, missing out on a place in the NPFL.

This achievement represents a significant milestone for Ranchers Bees, whose resurgence highlights years of rebuilding and determination. Their promotion adds to the growing list of clubs advancing to the NPFL this season.

Earlier, Doma United, Inter Lagos, and Sporting Lagos had already secured their spots in the top tier, setting the stage for an exciting new season in Nigerian football.

With their promotion now confirmed, Ranchers Bees will look to re-establish themselves among Nigeria’s football elite and write a new chapter in their storied history.
