Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare marked a personal milestone despite disappointment for his side, as Wolverhampton Wanderers fell 2–1 to Arsenal in Saturday’s Premier League clash.
The Nigerian striker, making his 12th league appearance of the season, scored his first Premier League goal for Wolves with a dramatic late header that briefly restored hope for the home side.
Arsenal dominated possession for large spells of the contest but found it difficult to break down a resolute and well-organised Wolves defence.
The breakthrough eventually came midway through the second half when a Bukayo Saka corner forced an own goal from goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
Wolves appeared to have rescued a valuable point when Arokodare rose highest to nod home a 90th-minute equaliser, igniting celebrations around the stadium.
However, the joy was short-lived as Arsenal struck late to snatch victory, dealing Rob Edwards’ battling side a cruel blow.
The defeat leaves Wolves still rooted in trouble, remaining 13 points adrift of safety, while Arokodare will take encouragement from opening his Premier League goal account.
