Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey marked a memorable outing on Saturday as he scored his first goal of the season, while compatriot Samuel Chukwueze provided an assist in Fulham’s thrilling 3–2 victory over Burnley in a Premier League clash.
Bassey, making his 16th appearance of the campaign for the London club, found the back of the net in the 31st minute, rising highest to power home a well-directed header and restore Fulham’s lead. The goal underlined the defender’s growing influence at both ends of the pitch.
Fulham had earlier taken the lead in the ninth minute through Emile Smith Rowe, who finished calmly after sustained pressure from the hosts. Burnley, however, responded positively and drew level in the 22nd minute when Lesley Ugochukwu struck to make it 1–1.
The encounter remained fiercely contested as both sides pushed for supremacy, with Fulham eventually edging the contest to secure all three points in an entertaining five-goal affair.
