‎Nigeria’s home-based national team head coach, Eric Chelle, is expecting a difficult duel as his team faces defending champions Senegal in their Group D opener at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Tuesday.

‎The highly anticipated game will take place at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, marking Nigeria’s return to the continental tournament after missing out on the last two editions.

‎Nigeria’s last appearance at CHAN was in 2018, where they finished second after a crushing 4-0 defeat to hosts Morocco in the final.

‎The Super Eagles B also came third at the 2014 edition hosted by South Africa. Both teams are among the favorites to win the title this time around.

‎Chelle’s squad, which includes a notable contingent from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars, has been preparing for the tournament with a focus on a high-pressing, possession-based style of play.

‎ The team is looking to make a strong impression in the tournament and bring home the title.
