Basketball: SHOWTYME Summer Slam Set For August 15

Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, is gearing up for another exciting basketball showdown as Showtyme Entertainment, in conjunction with the Showtyme Foundation, hosts the 5th Edition of the SHOWTYME Summer Slam.
The highly anticipated annual event has become a staple in Nigeria’s grassroots basketball calendar, consistently raising the bar in terms of organization, talent discovery, and entertainment. It continues to serve as a vibrant platform for young basketball players to showcase their skills and gain recognition.
The 2025 edition is scheduled to take place on August 15th and 16th at the Basketball Court, Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily.
According to the organizers, 11 teams will participate this year — featuring 9 male teams and 2 female teams — with a ₦1 million cash prize up for grabs.
Over the years, the competition has crowned different champions:
Showtyme Hoopers claimed victory in the maiden edition (2021),
Rising Stars emerged winners in 2022,
Hoop Dreams triumphed in 2023, and
U.I Winners took the 2024 title.
This year’s edition promises to be more electrifying, with fans and scouts from across the country expected to witness the thrilling display of talent, passion, and community spirit that has become the hallmark of the SHOWTYME Summer Slam.
