Chelsea has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, defeating Brazilian club Palmeiras 2-1 despite a stunning goal from Estevao Willian, the 18-year-old Brazilian sensation set to join Chelsea in a £52 million deal.
Cole Palmer scored the opening goal in the 16th minute, slotting the ball into the net.
Estevao Willian equalized for Palmeiras with a remarkable strike from a tight angle in the 53rd minute, showcasing his skill and sharpness in the box.
Malo Gusto’s cross deflected off defender Giay Agustin and into his own goal, securing a 2-1 victory for Chelsea in the 83rd minute.
Chelsea will face Fluminense in the semi-finals at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Tuesday.
Despite the win, Chelsea faced setbacks, including injuries and suspensions. Captain Reece James picked up an injury during warm-ups, while Liam Delap and Levi Colwill received yellow cards, ruling them out of the semi-final .
