Nasarawa State Government To Upgrade Lafia City Stadium For Upcoming Football Season

The Nasarawa State Government has initiated efforts to upgrade the Lafia City Stadium to meet the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) standards.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, led a delegation and team of experts to inspect the stadium, identifying areas that require immediate improvement.

Key Areas for Improvement

– Installation of LED Floodlights: To meet NPFL standards for night matches

– Provision of Back-up Generator: To ensure alternative power supply

– Installation of Approved Playing Turf: To replace the existing turf, which is peeling off in some areas

– Perimeter Fencing and Safety Measures: To enhance safety and security

– Comfortable Changing Rooms: For players and match officials

The Commissioner assured that the State Government will work with relevant stakeholders to implement the necessary upgrades, ensuring the stadium is ready for the new football league campaign.

The upgrades will also enable the stadium to host the annual Gusau/Ahlan Cup Preseason Football Tournament.
