Elegbeleye Praises NPFL Referees’ Improvement

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, has commended the league’s referees for their improved performance during the 2024/25 season.

Elegbeleye rated NPFL referees among the best globally, citing their impressive performances in continental competitions.

Nigerian referees have been appointed to CAF competitions, including the U-20 Championship in Egypt, and one has been shortlisted for WAFCON.

Elegbeleye acknowledged that more work is needed to perfect the system and called for continued support for referee training and retraining.

The NPFL Chairman invited the media to highlight both positive performances and irregularities to promote the league’s growth.
