Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq opened his La Liga goal account as Valencia secured a 1-1 draw against Villarreal on Saturday.

Sadiq, making his fifth league appearance, came off the bench in the 55th minute and made an instant impact. Villarreal had taken the lead in the 32nd minute through Idrissa Gueye, delighting the home fans. However, Sadiq struck late, finding the net in the 84th minute to salvage a crucial point for Valencia.

The Nigerian forward’s goal was a much-needed boost for his side, who continue to battle relegation concerns. The draw sees Valencia move up to 17th place with 23 points, just above the relegation zone, while Villarreal remain in fifth with 41 points as they push for European qualification.

Sadiq will be hoping his first goal sparks a strong run of form as Valencia fights to stay in La Liga.
