The Executive chairman,Edo State Sports Commission Hon. Desmond Amadin Enabulele has disclosed that plans are already on the ground by his board and management to organize Edo state Sports Festival in April this year as part of preparations for the National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Ogun State in May .

Hon. Enabulele made the disclosure on Wednesday morning shortly after the management and workers of the Sports Commission had rounded off their 3-day General Walkout (fitness exercises) at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium,Benin.

He said that the state Governor distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo has given him the approval to go ahead with the hosting of the state sports festival plans.

The Edo State Sports Commission boss said that his board is put in place to take Edo State sports development to the next level and called for the cooperation of all staff and athletes. He urged the workers and athletes to imbibe the culture of discipline in order to Excell in whatever they do in their chosen field for the overall good of the state sports commission.

” Let me congratulate everyone for the successful completion of the three days fitness exercise which marked the beginning of our sporting activities this year and I want to urge us to be more focused on our job here. Let us remain committed.

” It is festival year and we have a lot to do, beginning with zonal elimination, preceding the National Sports Festival:maintenance of facilities and welfare of athletes and staff. So, we need your cooperation and I want you to know that my doors are open for important ideas and suggestions on how to develop our sports. We will do our best to ensure that those working hard will have their benefits and whatever be our challenges,we will start to address them as we settle down for work.” He emphasized.

The Director of Sports Development and Operations Mrs Efe Amenze in her remarks said that they (workers) are happy that the chairman is starting on a strong footing, with the programme of development he has put in place and the promises of inclusive administration. She assured honourable Enabulele of the top management and general workers’ cooperation, while wishing him a successful tenure.

Work officially resumed on Monday, January 6,2025) at the Edo State Sports Commission with workers, including athletes, Coaches and staff being engaged in a 3-day general walkout at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium to mark the commencement of sporting activities for the year.

The 3-day fitness exercise, according to the Edo State Sports Commission management is aimed at welcoming back workers from the yuletide break and to wake up the spirit of their sportsmen in preparation for the activities and tasks ahead.
