Ahead of the Matchday 2 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League encounter against Akwa United Football Club of Uyo, Abia Warriors gaffer, Imama Amapakabo has said that the Warriors will go for all the three points at stake.

The Umu-Chineke boys failed to make their home advantage count as they lost to visiting Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne at the Umuahia Township Stadium, despite creating numerous scoring opportunities.

Coach Imama who spoke with Abia Warriors Media admitted that the encounter will be a tough one, but insisted that the Warriors will go for the three points at stake in order to regain the lost grounds.

“Our biggest undoing is that of the players’ inability to convert the chances we have been able to create through tactics. It’s their problem technically, which we’ve been trying to work on, and I believe, the chances are also going to come in this game we are going to play. If we are able to take our chances, we’ll be ahead in less than no time, but then, like I said, it’s going to be a highly tactical game. They are going to come with their A-game and we too I believe, we’ll come with A+ game because, having lost our last game we need to regain the points”, the coach said.

He continued, “Like I told the players, it’s hundred and eleven points to play for in the league at this point in time. So, we will go for every three points of the one hundred and eleven that is left”, he further stated.

On how they intend to approach the game against The Promise Keepers, the Warriors Technical Adviser said they will stick to the team’s belief.

“Tactically we’re prepared for the game. It’s unfortunate that we lost our last game at home having played that well. We are going to stick to our beliefs, stick to the things we have prepared for and know how to do. We know it’s going to be a difficult game, on a good pitch we’ll be able to exhibit what we can.”

The gaffer also reacted to the Head Coach of Akwa United’s opinion of beating the Warriors at the Nest of Champions, Uyo.

“Every coach wants to win; I would have been disappointed if he had spoken differently. But like I said, there will be three points in front of us before the game, both of us will be hustling for the three points, and I believe, he will put his best forward and I will also put my best forward so, let the better side win and definitely I know it’s going to be an exciting game for the spectators. It’s going to be a good exhibition for Nigerian football.”

Abia Warriors will play Akwa United Football Club at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Sunday 15th September 2024. Kickoff time is 3pm.
