…Joseph Godstime Expresses Delight For Scoring First Away Goal In The NPFL This Season.

 

The Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium in Minna will come alive this Sunday as Niger Tornadoes face off against their North Central rivals, Nasarawa United, in an NPFL top-flight encounter.

 

The Ikon Allah Boys will be looking to make a statement in their first home match since May 26th, 2019, and build on their momentum from last weekend’s away win in Ilorin.

 

The team has a mixed record against Nasarawa United, with four wins and four losses in their last eight encounters.

 

Joseph Godstime, who scored the first away goal of the NPFL season, expressed his delight and gratitude, saying, “I was so excited scoring my team’s first goal of the season… I thank God for the strength and wisdom.”

 

Godstime also spoke about his new role in the team, saying, “I’m quickly adapting to the new position up in the midfield unlike last season when I played from the right back position, I promise to do my best in the position to help the entire team.”

 

Niger Tornadoes who are still basking in the euphoria of their brilliant away win last weekend in Ilorin will be looking to build on the momentum, while Nasarawa United who are making a return to the top flight after spending a season in the 2nd tier division, managed a 1-1 draw in Lafia with 3SC of Ibadan in the opening day of the season.

The last time Niger Tornadoes hosted an NPFL home match in Minna was May 26th 2019, in a 0-1 defeat to Kwara United, courtesy of Afeez Nosiru’s strike and equally, the last time Niger Tornadoes won an NPFL home match at the Bako Kontagora Stadium was on the 15th of May 2019 in a 1-0 victory over the defunct MFM FC of Lagos, Ismail Sarki scored the lone goal.

 

This weekend present a perfect opportunity for Majin Mohammed’s wards to announce their home return in a big way and to also prove that the away win in Ilorin last weekend was not fluke.

 

The last meeting between the two sides was 2022/2023 season in Kaduna where the Ikon Allah Boys trumped 1-0 courtesy of

Abdul Jumoh’s strike.
