NWFL: Adamawa Queens Smashed League Table Leaders After A Milestone Comeback

It was thunderstorm at pantami stadium, Gombe state as Adamawa Queens FC defeated the mighty Owerri landladies on match day 7; Wednesday, 10th January, 2024. As the first Quarter of NWFL23/24 premiership season comes to an end.

 

Coach Jacob Vandi expressed his sincere gratitude to God for making it possible to bag 3 required points. He he commended the fight heartland Queens FC put up and also commended the efforts, courage and momentum his team adopted through the process of the 2-1win against Heartland Queens FC of Owerri.

While speaking to Adamawa Queens media, Coach Vandi Quoted Wilma Rudolph: _“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.”_ and hence said: ” I want to thank God for this well deserved Win, it was indeed a good game. Heartland Queens played a very good game, good strategy. I must say, they are worthy opponents. At the same time, my team put up a good fight, they summoned courage to face the bull by the horn”. He further said ” I am sure my opponents will agree with me that the game was fair, kudos to the match officials for a fair and free game.

Heartland Queens FC changed the Score sheet at the 36th minutes into the first half as Chinaka Chinedu (19) located Kalu Oyinyechi (23) with a calculated pull out that shook Adamawa Queens FC’s net. Both sides fistfully dragged through till the 70th minute where Adamawa Queens FC were awarded a penalty by Central Referee Blessing Banjo, after Mary Moses was taken down at the 18 yard box of the Owerri landladies. Adamawa Queens FC utilized their chance by scoring the equalising goal by Skipo Anani Oluaseun (17). Adamawa Queens FC did not relent as they could not take draw for an answer; hence, went through Heartland ‘s defence to make a perfect come back at 90+3 minutes, exactly 3 minutes before the end of the game, the deciding goal came from the Unstoppable and promising striker Mary Moses (7). This is the second time this season Adamawa Queens FC showed that they are not an underdogs as they equally did the same to Nasarawa Amazons on match day 5.

 

NWFL23/24 Premiership season has gone on mid season break, transfer window will be open for fresh and interesting marketing thus, actions resumes come 31st January,2024.
