Super Eagles Hammer Dubai Club 12-0 In Preparation For AFCON

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday walloped Dubai Cultural Sports Club 12-0 in a friendly game in Abu Dhabi as part of their preparation for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman scored four goals to help the Eagles to a resounding 12-0 victory over the local club from Dubai.

The AFCON 2023 pre tournament friendly match was played behind closed doors in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Eagles were 6-0 up at half time with reigning African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen scoring a brace in the encounter.

Substitute Moses Simon also scored twice as team captain Ahmed Musa alongside Umar Sadiq, scored a goal apiece while their opponents scored two own goals.

Francis Uzoho started the game and kept a clean sheet, while Enyimba goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke began the second half, saved a penalty and also kept a clean sheet.

Up next for the Jose Peseiro’s team is a more competitive friendly fixture against the Syli National of Guinea at the Bani Yas Stadium on Monday.

The three-time African champions are expected back in Nigeria on Tuesday before leaving for Cote d’Ivoire the next day for AFCON 2023 where they will open their Group A campaign against Equatorial Guinea on 14 January.
