NNL24: Madiba FC Secures 3-2 Victory in Lagos Derby Against 1472 FC

The Lagos derby played on Friday afternoon at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium, Lagos, between 1472 FC and Madiba FC concluded with a 3-2 win for Madiba FC on Match Day 6 of the Nigeria National League Southern Conference Group A.

 

The first half witnessed Dada Oladimeji opening the goal net for Madiba FC in the early 3rd minute. Oladimeji, currently boasting 6 goals in 6 matches, displayed exceptional skill.

 

Ajibola Ololade of Madiba FC doubled the lead at the 13th minute with a brilliant shot from outside the 18-yard box, leaving 1472 FC trailing.

 

At the 31st minute, Abara Ifeanyi of 1472 FC managed to wipe away the zero for his team, injecting renewed energy into the match.

 

In the 40th minute, Madiba FC’s Fasina Samson, with a well-executed header from a Dada Oladimeji free kick, secured the third goal for Madiba FC.

 

The second half was tense for both teams, with Madiba FC aiming to add more goals and 1472 FC striving to clear the goal deficit. At the 70th minute, Durugbo Pascha of 1472 FC broke through Madiba FC’s defense, scoring the second goal for his team.

 

Madiba FC’s Coach Solomon Bala strategically made key substitutions, introducing Aliu Solomon, Anthony Ndubuisi, Adeyemi Mayowa, and Adeagbo Kolapo to strengthen his team and dismantle 1472 FC’s defensive strategy.

 

With this victory, Madiba FC now stands at 16 points from an unbeaten 6 matches, solidifying a better standing in the league table.

 

The Oshodi Boys will be on the home side to face Smart City FC in another Lagos derby on January 5th, 2024, following the resumption after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
