NPFL title holders Enyimba were held to a 1-1 draw by Rangers in a thrilling Oriental Derby contest in Aba on Wednesday.

The hosts took control of the game early on, confining Rangers in their own half.

Finidi George’s side took the lead through Chijioke Mbaoma in the 12th minute.

Mbaoma has now scored five goals for the Aba giants this season.

Enyimba failed to add to their advantage, allowing Rangers to earn a share of the spoils late on.

Kazeem Ogunleye slotted home the equaliser in the 87th minute after having a shot saved by Ojo Olorunleke two minutes earlier.

It was Ogunleye’s fourth goal of the season for the Flying Antelopes.

Elsewhere, Doma United returned to winning ways following a 1-0 victory over Heartland at the Pantami Township Stadium.

Nelson Abiam scored the winning goal three minutes before the break.

The remaining matchday 15 fixtures will be played on Thursday.
