Former Super Eagles Player and Coach Emmanuel Amuneke has cleared airs on stadium allegedly credited to former LMC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko that he changed original list that were meant to play against Ghana in Abuja.

The Tunisia ’94 AFCON Winner stated this on Friday In an online weekly interview held in one of the leading WhatsApp groups, Sports World co hosted by Sunday Agunbiade Mr VAR and Anambrarian, Chigozie Chukwuleta tagged Super Interview. Amuneke who was with Zanaco , Zambia last season said he is presently in Spain but called out Shehu Dikko who is also a member of the platform to come out for clarification.

In his words,:

“I think if I am not mstaken, Mr Dikko is on this platfom. I think when you are a leader, you don’t talk behind. How could he say such a thing that I changed the world cup list that played one all draw against Ghana in MKO AbiolaStadium, Abuja. ”

“Anyway, It’s very unfortunate that such a comment could come from someone I so much respect. How someone like Mr Dikko could go on public space to create a false story that I changed the team list. First of all, am I the Head Coach to change the team list? Secondly, the players that were invited, of course we gave our ideas and consent to Eguavoen but we are not the Head Coach. Who is the person that stands on the line?. Who goes into Press Conference. I think gentlemen, we have come to a stage whereby we don’t allow certain things to fly around without hearing it from the other party for balancing”. Atlanta ’96 Gold Medalist rhetorically asked

“Mr Shehu was a former president of Nigeria league. He also represented a serious position in our football . He came out openly and start making accusations of such magnitude without evidence. I think he should clarify it by coming out on this platfom to tell the house how I changed the list. In fact, I respect him. Like I said whatever I do in our football is for the interest of Nigeria and not certain individuals. Former Barcelona winger submitted

Amuneke played for Zamalek, Sporting CP, Barcelona, and Albacete. Our guest played 27 times for Nigeria, scoring nine goals and he was part of the team that participated at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, scoring against Bulgaria and Italy . Also in that year, he helped the Super Eagles win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, eventually being voted African Footballer of the Year.

Additionally, Amunike played all the games at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, scoring the winning goal in the final as the national team won the gold medal but sadly, Knee problems kept him out of the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He later won U17 World Cup in the year 2015
