Players of Nigeria National League (NNL) side ROVERS FC visited the Infant Jesus Orphanage Home in Calabar, ahead of their Week One home tie with Stormers Sports Club.

The entire squad led by Team Captain Asuquo Inyang, paid a heartwarming visits to the children’s/orphanage home, handling out a raft of gifts to the less privileged kids.

They passed on their best wishes to the children, staff of the orphanage and also spent some quality time mingling, playing and praying with the kids, some of whom are said to be homeless since birth.

The captain of the side Asuquo Inyang said: “It’s been really special to be here today, an incredible place and for the players and the staff to come and visit the orphanage. It’s been a special afternoon and we the players really relish this opportunity and we look forward doing this from time to time ”

“It is difficult and bad when kids are dumped after birth and it’s even good enough that some people pick them up and train them to become better people. I urge everyone to keep supporting these set of people as they aren’t as privileged as many of us ”

“We saw some very small cute babies here and its unbelievable that a parent will abandon her child. But overall, we are happy that these kids are strong and are receiving some of the best care you can find anywhere ”

Reacting to his words, the head of Orphanage “Infant Jesus Orphanage Home”, Sister Elizabeth was elated over the donations and tasked them to keep doing more.

“We are glad and very grateful to the management and players of ROVERS FC, this nice gesture will go along way in helping the kids. I really hope other groups too will emulate this.”

Rovers FC will begin her 2023/24 NNL season with a home fixture against Stormers Sports Club on Sunday, November 19th, at the UJ Esuene stadium by 4pm.
