NFF President, Gusau Visits Ekiti, Urges Government, Corporate Bodies, Individuals To Support FA Towards Grassroots Football Development.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau was on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, the State capital for a couple of official functions.

 

According to him. The visit was to identify with the Ekiti State Football Association led by Chief Olu Oloworemo and to grace the official opener of the 2023/24 Nigeria Women Premier Football League.

 

While addressing members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ekiti State chapter during a media interactive session, the NFF President expressed delight to have visited the State for the first time since the new Ekiti State Football Association Executive s were inaugurated.

 

He said his previous visits were either to settle rifts among FA members or to be part of the FA State elections.

 

Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau thanked the current FA Chairman for his efforts at uniting all Football stakeholders in Ekiti State urging him to work more closely with the State government and corporate bodies to facilitate, organize and sponsor grassroots football programs.

 

He also urged the governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and other members of his cabinet as well as major stakeholders at home and abroad to support the State Football Association to implement it’s laudable football related programs.

 

The country’s number football administrator congratulated Ekiti State on the Women Premier League status achieved by Ekiti Queens Football Club adding that it was an indication that the future of football and the youth would be guaranteed through the game.

 

The NFF President who was asked quite a number of questions bordering on State and National football matters by SWAN members took time to answer the questions one after the other.

 

In the meantime, the Chairman, Ekiti State Football Association, Chief Olu Oloworemo has said the FA will continue to support the Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau’s Football developmental programs.

 

The Ekiti FA chairman said he was excited to recieve the NFF President in the State especially at the time Ekiti State was making history through the first ever Women Football team and the first ever Premier Football League match to be played on Ekiti soil since it’s creation in 1996.

 

Oloworemo assured that the FA will synergize with the NFF towards producing youngsters from the State that could fit into the National Youth teams in no distant time.

 

The NFF President and Ekiti FA chairman later joined the wife of the governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji during the official kickoff of the Women Premier Football League season opener at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti.

 

The entertaining match between Premier League debutants, Ekiti Queens and Defending champions , Delta Queens ended goalless as it was graced by hundred of soccer lovers .
