Zimbabwe suffered a setback ahead of Sunday’s clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria as the players refused to train over unpaid bonuses and allowances.

The Warriors opened their campaign in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with an away draw against the Amavubi of Rwanda on Wednesday.

According to the Herald, the players only had a recovery session in their hotel on Thursday but refused to partake in training, much to the disappointment of head coach, Baltemar Brito.

The Zimbabwe Football Association reportedly promised the players a winning bonus of $2,000 but said nothing about drawn matches.

The players are now demanding to be paid for the stalemate against Rwanda.

The issue is expected to be resolved before the Warriors host the Super Eagles at the Huye Stadium, Butare on Sunday.
